Dr Romain Fathi

Senior Lecturer in History
ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵCollege of Arts & Social Sciences

Dear colleagues, my name is Romain Fathi, and I am a Senior Lecturer at the School of History (RSSS, CASS). Although I was born and educated overseas, I have worked in the Australian university sector for over twelve years. I have taught at universities in France and in the US with diverse approaches to education.

I have experience in committee work, and I seek your support in this election because I wish to contribute to making ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵan even better university and workplace. I want to ensure that the University’s duty of care toward its staff, students and community is upheld to the highest standard at a time when financial uncertainties impact everyone’s professional and personal lives.

I strongly believe ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵis one of the world’s leading universities, but it faces challenges. I am firmly committed to the university’s core values – integrity; fairness and justice; respecting and celebrating First Nations Peoples; truth-seeking, transparency and accountability; safety and wellbeing; inclusion, equity and diversity, and respectful collegiality. These must be embodied more often, and in more practical ways, in decisions taken by Council to ensure a better student experience and a vibrant, secure future for ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵand for all of us.
