I am a Distinguished Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the Crawford School of Public Policy, the Director of Policy Engagement, and the ƵNode Leader at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR).

During my time at ANU, I have built financially viable institutions that advance academia's contribution to policy. I am currently the Director of the Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis (CAMA); I was the foundation Director of the ƵResearch School of Economics and a Professorial Fellow at the Lowy Institute, where I was involved in its design.

I served on the Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia from 2001-2011. I also served as a member of the Australian Prime Minister’s Science, Engineering and Innovation Council and on the Australian PM’s Taskforce on Uranium Mining Processing and Nuclear Energy in Australia.

I was awarded the Centenary Medal in 2003, “For Service to Australian Society through Economic Policy and Tertiary Education” and made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2016.

If elected, I propose to bring my financial, governance and leadership experience to contribute to building a more resilient Ƶin the coming years.
