Memorial: Emeritus Professor Jack Golson

The ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵSchool of Culture, History & Language Director Professor Simon Haberle would like to invite the family, friends, colleagues and former students of Emeritus Professor Jack Golson to attend a wake in his memory in the Coombs Tea Room, from 5-7pm on Wednesday 18 October, on the eve of the  (Thursday,

19 October). Everyone is welcome to participate, meet with others and contribute to this commemoration of Jack's life, work and times.

Jack Golson was Emeritus Professor of Archaeology at the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵSchool of Culture, History & Language within the College of Asia and the Pacific. Recruited to the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵin 1961, Jack was among the leading foundation figures in Pacific Archaeology and launched modern prehistoric research in New Zealand. In 2009, he was the recipient of the World Archaeological Congress Inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a founding figure in developing modern archaeology in several nations and a leader in field research into the evolution of agricultural systems in the Pacific.
