The Celebration of Giving returns
ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵdonors and volunteers were recently welcomed back to campus to celebrate the impact of their giving.
It was the first time the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵCelebration of Giving has been held in three years, providing a wonderful opportunity for the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵdonor and volunteer community to come together in person and celebrate the impact of their collective generosity.
Upon arriving at Manning Clark Hall in the Kambri Cultural Centre, guests enjoyed a fine selection of canapés and drinks, and were treated to a musical performance by ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵSchool of Music alumnus and Yil Lull studio leader, Will Kepa.
Karlie Noon, ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵMaster of Astronomy and Astrophysics student, and the event's MC, opened the afternoon's formal festivities.
Ngambri elder Dr Aunty Matilda House welcomed guests to Country.
ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵVice-Chancellor and President, Professor Brian P. Schmidt, thanked donors and volunteers for the positive difference they make to ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵstudents, research and the ambitions of the University.
The afternoon's celebration culminated in a presentation by Associate Professor Kim Cunio, Head of the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵSchool of Music, titled The Sound of Space. Combining art and science, this unique performance captures the Earth's natural sounds - normally not audible to the human ear - transforming the eerie and unusual tones into a stirring musical composition.
