We're fortunate to have many remarkable and legacy-building women among us, both past and present. However, out of 150 named buildings at our university, only five bear women's names. It's time to change that and we need your help to make it happen.

Nominations - Round 1

Nominations are now closed for the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵbuilding renaming initiative to honour distinguished women whose exceptional contributions have significantly shaped ANU. Eligible nominees included alumni, former staff, or individuals with notable accomplishments that have influenced our university's development. Only deceased nominees were considered for building nominations, while living nominees have been considered for alternative ways to honour them. 

We thank the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵcommunity for its outstanding engagement. We received over 50 nominations and from those nominations we have selected four trailblazing women to rename four of our buildings on campus. 

Nominations that were not chosen for building renaming are being considered for other recognition. 

Building Renaming

The first building renaming event will take place on Wednesday 30 October, with others to follow in late 2024 and early 2025.

The names of successful nominations will be announced and celebrated within the week of their respective renaming event.

The ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵcommunity will be invited to, once again, nominate and honour amazing self-identifying women that have shaped our University. More information coming soon...
